I was visiting friends at Morgan, South Australia, & was wandering along the banks of the River Murray when a small flock of Regent Parrots settled on the ground in front of me. I was able to spend some 20 minutes observing these beautiful birds in the late afternoon light. They eventually flew up into a majestic River Red Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis), the plant species I've used in this painting.
